Nothing tastes better than a fresh local tomato or artisanal bread from down the road. Everyone deserves a taste of local on their plate! That’s why we’re dedicated to making it easier to buy from local vendors.
We began the Avalon Food Hub as a new way for people to buy and enjoy the best our region has to offer. It’s the convenience of online ordering with the quality of fresh, local products.
We believe in a province where everyone can eat with joy and dignity. This includes creating easier access to local food and supporting food producers in our province. We’re grateful to be part of that work with other food hubs, farmers’ markets, and stores supporting local.
Our connection to Food First NL
We’re one of three social enterprises operated by Food First NL. Buying from the Avalon Food Hub means supporting Food First NL’s vision of a province where everyone can eat with joy and dignity.
What is a social enterprise?
A social enterprise is a business that earns revenue to support a social mission. Some social enterprises use their profits to support their parent organization. Others (like the Avalon Food Hub) focus on sustainably providing a socially beneficial service. For example, we invest our profit back into the Avalon Food Hub to keep us running and serving our community.
